LEGION MOVIE, a review

Legion is an apocalyptic-thriller film, directed by Scott Stewart. the primary casts are  Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Adrianne Palicki and Dennis Quaid.

the story is all about the other way of doomsday.. on how God will exterminate mankind, as He loses faith to humanity because of the evil doings of the living people. in this film, it conceptualizes a different apocalypse in which God uses His archangels to possess each and every human to become a zombie-like creature to kill each other as a way of exterminating the world’s population, as the last judgement.

there is only one archangel who believes that there is still hope in the human race.. a hope for change to become good. and that is archangel Michael. He went down to prove to God that people can change, by protecting the unborn child of charlie, a young waitress in a New Mexico diner, who then, doesnt want her baby.

the baby that she’s about to give birth to is a sign of hope for humanity. it’s an action drama, that will make us realize our wrong doings in this planet, that there is still time for repentance.

A WHOLE BODY NUDE SCANNER

the US airport is tightening their security by improving their passenger scanners. it’s a whole body scanner that can detect life threatening devices that a terrorist or even a an ordinary passenger is carrying with. this action is being done in the US airport, after they failed to detect a nigerian suicide bomber who attempted to create a terrorist attack on christmas day of 2009.

Obama is now directing all the US airports to use the latest whole body scanner by TSA (Transportation Security Administration). it is a state-of-the-art imaging technology that scans the body of the person passing through it, in a clearly nude image like even seeing your genitals and the private parts of the body.

they use a millimeter wave technology that beams a radio frequency energy to scan at a high speed from two antennas simultaneously as they rotate around the body. looks like they perfected the x-ray vision of SUPERMAN!

it scans the whole body, underneath the clothes their wearing, and produces the nude image of the passenger. i may say that this could be an overkill to passengers that are concerned with their privacy, much more to the protection of the kids that will be undergoing to this scan test, that they can be abused in pornography.

TSA claims that the scanning machine is incapable of saving, and transmitting the nude images produced by the device. but other reports tell, that TSA is lying about this information, to “protect” the people regarding their “privacy concern”.

technology has its own price. we are now paying everything about it. but as we all know, terrorists are far more “high-tech” than the administrators of their target. so they can counter any device that can hinder their terrorist attack.

the privacy of the civilians are now being sacrificed here, and even the young ones. this scanner thing is good if it will be used only for its purpose, which is to detect terrorism. but there are a lot of “not so good people” around, that might abuse the technology for their “personal pleasure”.

we are all humans with the same image of genitals when scanned. so, we must believe that it is just an SOP (standard operating procedure) that will guarantee our security as we travel in the air.

it’s technology! a technology that provides security, but sacrifices our privacy. or a privacy that will sacrifice our security. which would you prefer?

SHERLOCK HOLMES, a review

last sunday, i was able to watch SHERLOCK HOLMES with my hubby as a part of our whole day celebration of my 27th birthday.. it’s a worth it movie!

i have never seen Robert Downy Jr, acted so funny yet clever in his role as Sherlock Holmes. and i dont think that any other actor could do that. together with a great actor Jude Law,  their combination is a bomb!

Guy Ritchie as their director has done an excellent job in bringing out the best acting from the characters of the story..

it’s a fun-filled clever movie, that audiences wont forget Sherlock Holmes!

it’s four stars.

SHERLOCK HOLMES, a synopsis

In 1891 London, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) race to prevent a human sacrifice ritual conducted by Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong). Holmes and Watson stop the sacrifice just in time and neutralize Lord Blackwood while Holmes saves Watson from a glass shard Blackwood used to kill his enemies that he barely sees until the last second, after which the police, led by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), arrive and arrest him.

Blackwood’s execution occurs three months later, during which Holmes has become bored without a new case. Watson prepares to leave 221B Baker Street to establish his own business, and he intends to marry Mary Morstan (Kelly Reilly). Blackwood requests Holmes’ presence on the day of his execution, and warns him that three more deaths will occur after his execution that will change the very nature of their world. Later, Blackwood is executed by hanging, declared dead by Watson himself.

Holmes is re-acquainted with Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams). She offers him a sum of money to pursue a case of a missing red-haired midget by the name of Reardon. Holmes disguises himself to find the identity of Adler’s employer, but can only surmise him as a professor. Three days after Blackwood’s execution, his tomb is found shattered, from the inside out, and an eyewitness reports seeing Blackwood walking away. Holmes, Watson, and Lestrade find Blackwood’s coffin contains the body of the red-haired midget. Holmes follows clues from a pocket watch on the body to the midget’s home, where they discover several chemistry experiments. They narrowly avoid capture by three thugs that have arrived to destroy the evidence in the home. After an elaborate chase, Holmes and Watson are arrested for property damage after a steamship being built in a naval yard sinks in the river Thames. Watson is released on bail by Miss Morstan, while Holmes is taken to the Temple of the Four Orders, a freemasonry-like, occult-dabbling secret society. Their leaders reveal Blackwood was a former member, and plead for Holmes to help stop him. Holmes declines their generous offers of reward but continues to investigate. As Holmes and Watson investigate, the two senior members are killed through apparent magical means by Blackwood, and he assumes control of the order, desiring to use the Order’s power to push for England to retake the United States after their civil war has weakened their defenses. Blackwood orders the Home Secretary, a member of the Order, to issue a warrant for Holmes’ arrest.

Holmes and Watson follow clues to an industrial slaughterhouse, where they are taunted by Blackwood and forced to rescue Adler from a deathly conveyor belt trap. Watson chases after Blackwood but is caught by a tripwire, setting off an explosion; Watson is able to warn Holmes and Alder to safety but is badly injured himself in the explosion. Holmes learns he is wanted by the police and goes into hiding, and reflects on the clues he has collected. He comes to realize that Blackwood is attempting to cast a spell based on the sphinx, with the three murdered tied to three of the mythical creature’s animal constituents: man, ox, and eagle. Holmes deduces the fourth, the lion, is symbolized by the English Parliament. Holmes allows Lestrade to capture and bring him to the Home Secretary. Overconfident, the Secretary reveals Blackwood’s plan for wiping out all the Lords but save those loyal followers of his. Holmes escapes, diving into the river Thames, and is rescued by a waiting boat with Watson and Adler in it.

The film’s climax takes place on the unfinished Tower Bridge.

Regrouping with Watson and Adler, Holmes takes them to the sewers below Parliament where they find a machine devised by the midget that is operated by a remote trigger held by Blackwood that will release a cyanide derivative into the Parliament chambers. The three fight off Blackwood’s men and dislodge the cyanide cylinders from the machine. Adler grabs the cylinders and races away, followed by Holmes; Blackwood becomes aware his machine has failed and shortly follows thereafter. The three arrive at the top of the Tower Bridge, still under construction. Blackwood knocks Adler to a lower platform, where she falls unconscious. Holmes tricks Blackwood into becoming entangled in the ropes and chains, and Blackwood is soon hanging precariously from these over the Thames while Holmes recounts that all of Blackwood’s “mystical” acts (including faking his own death) were simply applications of science and trickery. Holmes intends for Blackwood to stand trial but, tangled in ropes, Blackwood falls and is hanged by the chains. Holmes helps Adler recover, though handcuffs her. She explains that the mysterious caped man in the carriage is Professor Moriarty. Adler warns Holmes that Moriarty “is just as brilliant as he is, and infinitely more devious”. Holmes drops the key to the cuffs in Adler’s shirt and leaves her, returning to Watson. The police arrive to report a dead officer found near Blackwood’s device, and Holmes deduces that chasing Adler and fighting Blackwood was a diversion by Moriarty, who used the distraction to take a key component of Blackwood’s remote control device from the machine. Holmes accepts the case.

AVATAR, movie review

this is an another late review for the movie AVATAR.. i have been busy during the time that it was shown before christmas, and now, still showing because of its shortened movie play to give way to the MMFF (metro manila film festival). and now, it made a return to catch up with other moviegoers and fans who missed its first week of showing. so, enough of the explanation..

AVATAR , which i think, for me, and many would agree that this is the best movie for the year 2009 and even for this decade. a James Cameron film, that brought out a wonderful scenery of Pandora, a moon of the planet Polyphemus. it is a very touching movie, that exudes an overwhelming courage of the native people of Pandora specifically the residents of the Na’Vi clan.

in the simplest theme of the movie, it shows us the value of nature conservation, and the importance of each living creature in any given place, that everyone, has a life that which is to be respected.

cinematography and acting are superb. a great movie to watch with your family.. five stars for avatar!

during my college days, when our department, electronics engineering technology had an educational tour at ABS-CBN, we watched the Magandang tanghali bayan(MTB) noontime show as part of the audience, i was chose to be a contestant on their game, “Ano ka, hilo? it was fun, yet humiliating getting down twice. my schoolmates were watching back at school, and my parents were watching MTB at home too, not knowing that i’l be there. my father was so surprised seeing me on TV.. and we were just laughing talking about it as i got home.. =)

well, it happened to me the other way around. my partner’s other woman, was the one spying on me.. i was wondering why there’s this girl bugging me on my social network accounts and even on my website/blogsite. and telling me, how sure i was that my man is faithful to me.. and other stupid blah blah.. i tried to ask my man, if he knew who’s this girl but, he just said NO, I DONT KNOW HER.. then, i checked on the girl’s facebook account, it was a public profile back then, so i had a chance to see her photo albums. much to my surprise, i’ve found a couple of pictures where, there’s this guy beside her, but i cant see the image of the man because it was cut, and the picture was cropped leaving only a part of the man’s arm and about a quarter of his body was left to be seen on the photos. but come on! i have been with my partner for three years, and i know even the slightest features on face and parts of his body. so, i confronted my man, and still he denied it! even if im already showing their cropped pictures on him! but the ending, he trashed that bitch.. and still, she’s spying on me.. had a blog on this incident..

BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

When i was a little child, my mother used to sell a lot of different items to our relatives, neighbours and even to my father’s employees. Even my father used to try different businesses at home, making us work there during weekends. We were raised by business minded parents, for which we thought at that time, was just their hobby.

Everyone in us has the urge or has a potential in making money from having our own business. Even the low income earners, has the ability to sell their goods and make money from it. Just like the street vendors, they sell everything that’s viable and usable to the commuters around them, because they already have a market on the streets.

When you sell and earn profit from it, you’re already in business. Regardless of the amount you have as a capital for as long as you’re getting an extra amount from the original price of your goods, it is considered as business.

There are a lot of SME’s ( Small and Medium Enterprise ) in the Philippines, and a sari-sari store would be a best example. When your store is located in a high foot traffic location, or in a community where consumers are in a high rate, your store can go a long way, and can even sustain the needs of your family, that can be totally your means of income.

In business, there are a lot of key points to be able to succeed in whatever industry that you choose to cater. But the most essential yet the simplest equation that a business must have, is the ability to earn money and make it constantly profitable. SALES-CAPITAL=PROFIT, is the basic equation in business. If you’re gaining a positive PROFIT, then we can say that you are in business. If your PROFIT doubles your CAPITAL, we can say that you are in a good and profitable business, for which you must maintain that rate to be able to earn and make it your means of income.

For me, real life is in business. Being an employee in a company does not mean that you’re living in a superficial life. It just suspends your potential to earn more and be your own boss. You only receive a fixed amount of  income per payday, and your money just end there. After payday, you spend it either for your personal or family maintenance, and the next thing you know, your money is gone! Then you will have to wait for the next payday to earn money again, to do the same. It’s like a “hand-to-mouth” cycle, that for some, it’s even worse because they cannot even meet both ends.

But when you put into your system that you need to earn more, you will tend to think of other alternatives to generate income. The best thing would be is in entrepreneurship. Yes, doing business the right way.

It’s the most challenging venture of all time! BUSINESS and ENTREPRENEURSHIP. Now what’s the difference of the two? Well, business is a general term for any agenda in any industry. Entrepreneurship is the specific term in the equation, SALES-CAPITAL=PROFIT! When you are in this equation, and literally practicing it, you are already an ENTREPRENEUR.

When you become an entrepreneur, you will see and experience the REALITY of life. You will be the driver of your automobile, you’re in charge, you’re in control. But it does not end there. A big and major responsibility will be given to you by your employees, and your consumers. You will learn a lot. Actually, the things that you’ve thought before was so simple, when you become an entrepreneur, it becomes complicated. The success of your business is in your hands. How you manage to motivate your employees to bring the best customer care, and how you please and satisfy your customers would be your everyday saga in order to keep it moving UP and being in the market sustainably.

I encourage all the casual employees to start doing business in entrepreneurship, NOW. If you’re earning from it, then we can say that welcome to the CLUB!

HEART BROKEN DILEMMA

Life is’nt perfect.. and that’s a cliché. All of us, mature people, have already experienced loving someone, not related to us by blood. We all fall in love.. and sometimes, much to our regret, really fell in love and got failed in keeping it.

Love brings us joy and happiness.. and even gives us the “life” that we have dreamed about. But sometimes, the love that we thought was not the reality.. it’s untrue, and deceitful. We end up crying all day and even extending it till night just to get over the pain and suffering that we are experiencing. And the sad part, it does’nt just end there. It becomes a “battle”. You were trying to fight something inside your system which we think is unbearable. And in the long run, it becomes malignant. That’s why some people cannot handle it anymore, to the extent that they become suicidal. Whew! That’s scary, but statistics shows!

So why do you feel pain every now and then? Because you’re still healing.. just like a wound, literally.. sometimes you think your wound is already healing. But when it strikes into something that will trigger it to open, you can see there’s still blood inside. It’s healed on the outside, but still healing on the inside.

They say that it’s better to get wounded physically because the hurt that you will be feeling wont stay for a long time. It can be healed by a medicine and the pain can be numbed by an anesthesia. But the wound of a heart broken cannot be healed by a medicine and cannot be numbed by an anesthesia.. if it can be, i guess drugstores would have a long queue of customers  buying those medicines!

It’s hard.. really hard and way too hard to mend a broken heart. It cuts like a knife, it’s true. But what can we do to at least lessen the pain? On the first hour, we really can’t do anything about it. It’s there, crushing your bones, and pounding a big force on your heart like you cannot breathe the air around you. It’s an emotional torture.

But after that, you need to step back, just one step. Then take a deep breath, feel the air around you, to gain calmness. Then think of your position. Where are you? Are you in a place where you can have a peaceful mind to think properly? If you’re not, then find a place close to that area. Collect yourself, then relax for a while. Then, when you think that you can already control whatever you are feeling at the moment, you may start calling your friends to confide everything that you would like to share with them. Or maybe, just your closest friend. And even a close relative from your family. Someone you can talk to, that will just listen to your grievances and feelings.

After saying your piece with them, you may ask for their advices and opinions about what happened. With this, the burden that you are carrying will be lessen, knowing that your family and friends are there to support you. Talk to them more often to discuss your emotional status. At least they would know what would be the best treatment that they could give to you.

Being with your friends or family, you can do a lot of activities that will deviate your attention from your “heart problem.”  You may try a new sports, or if you’re not, try to get into sports, something that will occupy your idle time so you wont have time to think about being  a heart broken. Go out and meet new people! You’ll never know, the “cure” might just be out there waiting for you.

You need to keep yourself busy, and just focus your attention into something that will benefit you in a positive way.  Think of the things that you still have. Treasure it, be thankful for it, and grow more with it. It can be your work, or your business that can make yourself a little more busy than the usual. It’s not the end of the world, anyway!

Then as time passes by, you would never know that you are already moving on.. and moving forward. You can now just smile about even the tiniest hurt that you’ve felt during your “ trying to get over” days.

And when you think that you’re ready to fall in love again, take some precautionary measures. You are now a better person, much a better lover. Love makes the world go round, it’s the start of everything in this planet. Don’t get tired of loving.. It’s the happiest thing to do, to love. (^,^)

This could prove to be a turning point month when much will be revealed and a new life chapter will start to shape up before your eyes. Two eclipses are due this month, the first, in your opposite sign of Cancer, putting the emphasis on a close partner of yours. The second one will be a new moon solar eclipse, and will appear in Capricorn, underscoring your own needs and dreams for the future.

That second eclipse of January 15 will be a wonderful blessing and will give you energy and a new sense of purpose. You will be of clear mind and spirit and will likely be elated by the unexpected opportunities that come up. Let’s have a closer look at all that is due this month, for clearly, you will be in the center of all that happens.

On December 31 or January 1, depending on your geographic location, the full moon lunar eclipse will occur in your opposite sign of Cancer, highlighting one key partnership or marital matter. A while back you may not have known you’d ever have to decide the matter that will come up for decision now, but eclipses often bring surprise news or else they speed up timetables in a way that forces us to make decisions much sooner than we ever thought possible.

The results of this first lunar eclipse will depend on how your relationship had been proceeding until now. However, having said that, you may not be aware of all that has been going on, perhaps in secret. Eclipses will always reveal hidden truths.

Sometimes they reveal joyous, positive feelings that had been hidden deep within the heart of your partner. In that case, some Capricorns will get engaged or married for New Year’s. Or, if you planned to marry eventually, something may happen that causes you to speed up that timetable dramatically.

Although the two possible outcomes that I have described (marry or split) are quite opposite, they are united in one important way. Your alliance will be clarified and that will allow you to move forward in a productive way.

If your birthday falls on December 31, or within five days of this date, you will feel this eclipse most directly. If you were not born near this date, you may not notice the effects of this eclipse very much at all.

Eclipses usually illuminate their messages with a fairly casual comment or random event that comes in from the outside world. This news usually reveals quite a bit about the situation. Afterward, you will feel changed by what you learn. In that way, eclipses bring on a kind of rite of passage that brings us to a whole new place and that provides us with a brand new perspective. They require decisiveness, however – there never is a chance to go back to change things to the way they were before.

When you walk over the bridge, once you are safely on the other side, the bridge will collapse or disappear in some way – there will be no route back to where you started. If you break up, don’t try to come together again after an eclipse – it never works. Eclipses are non-negotiable events. Protect your dignity and move forward. The matter may not be fully crystallized by January 1, but it appears that you do have a plan. Saturn will begin to go retrograde on January 13 until May 30, so talks or plans may proceed slowly. I love January however, in that many planets – Venus, Mercury, Pluto, the new moon, and Sun – will be in your sign, Capricorn, and all of them will fiercely protect your interests. This is a good month for you, dear Capricorn, especially from January 16 on.

The second eclipse will be quite thrilling. It’ll be the official start of the movie that is all about you, and where you will have the staring role. A new moon solar eclipse in one’s own sign always marks a big turn of events for the better, but especially so if your birthday falls within five days of the date the solar eclipse arrives, January 15.

Sometimes, however, an important man in your life leaves your immediate surroundings forever as a result of a solar eclipse. I say a man because “solar” or “Sun” is usually male in astrology. In that respect, you have to remain flexible, but it could be a boss you never liked who is leaving, or a deadbeat lover who never treated you well.

Overall, the January 15 eclipse will be a wonderful development and help you set your life on much more stable ground. Uranus, the planet of surprise that is known to strike like lightning, will send a perfect beam to this eclipse, so the developments that come up should make you very happy and will leave you speechless. Watch what happens in the days that follow January 15.

Mercury will be retrograde in Capricorn as the month begins, so after the January 1 lunar eclipse delivers its news, spend the rest of the first half of January working on your blueprints and perfecting your plans. Take time to assess all your assumptions, for you may find something’s off.

When you are ready, but not before January 18, press forward. If you act on or after that date, you will have the powerful solar eclipse behind you to help you get the results you’re after.

If you have no romantic partner (nor any business partner either, for as said this could affect your business partnership), then you may not feel the December 31-January 1 lunar eclipse very much at all. You may meet someone new after the second eclipse though, after January 15, and that’s an exciting possibility. It would be the perfect time to meet someone intriguing too, for that eclipse will open a whole new path for you.

Venus will be in Capricorn from January 1 to 18, making your charms very visible at just the right time, birthday month! If you want to take any major steps to improve your looks, I would suggest you schedule salon and barbershop visits for on or after January 17. By that I mean radical changes – little grooming treatments and hair trims can be done at any time.

In terms of your most romantic dates, if you are single and unattached, or attached and in a good strong relationship, these dates will be your best for love: January 6, 7, 9, 12-15, 18-19, and 22-24.

Now and in coming months, protect your health. Sometimes when eclipses come by in one’s own sign, as is the case for you this year, a health matter will arise that needs attention. The universe does this to help and protect you, dear Capricorn. If you feel that something is not quite right with a part of your body, make a doctor’s appointment, and don’t wait for it to go away by itself. All medical concerns are best treated immediately.

The fact that you may be noticing something near an eclipse is significant, so don’t wave it off and assume it will clear up without your intervention. You have beautiful support this year from Jupiter, a planet not only known for good fortune, but for its healing properties, too. Jupiter will form what is called a “sextile” to your Sun this year, considered an aspect denoting opportunity. You need to take action to unlock Jupiter’s goodness, so if you need medical advice (or even a second opinion, also favored), don’t delay!

Now let’s turn to your finances.

Money has been going through your fingers ever since Mars entered Leo in mid-October, for your expenses have been high. Now that Mars went retrograde on December 20, they may have temporarily slowed down, but with Mars due to go direct on March 10, to stay in your house of credit until June 7, you will need to keep an eye on the outgo.

Last year – 2009 – you seem to have made a good income, but now that Jupiter, the great benefic, is about to leave your earned income sector, earning as much or more may become more challenging. This may be true for a number of reasons, ranging from the recession to your lack of desire to prove you can make a lot. You may feel that you’ve “been there, done that” and will be more interested in finding satisfaction in other areas of life.

Looking at your chart, it appears that your money has been going into your home or other property. You may be buying a home, or fixing one up. It is also possible that you are writing checks to help a family member, perhaps an elderly parent.

This month, on the full moon, January 30, you will crystallize some sort of financial settlement. This full moon will be aligned with Mars, so it will require some sort of decisive action.

Travel will also become a lovely diversion from now on, for Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, will move into your third house of short distance and learning. You will be on the road quite a bit in 2010 for any number of reasons, ranging from having a love relationship in a nearby town to having to work to see a good client based in a town a short drive away.

Your sister or brother may help you in some way from now on, and you may even go into business or buy real estate together. This year, that would be a good idea to investigate.
