RANGO, a review

I’m fond of watching cartoons nowadays.. They’re more realistic to watch and moves like they really exists in our world.

I was delighted when i get to watch the movie Rango, who was dubbed by my favorite hollywood actor, super cutie Johny Depp. Rango was a pet chameleon who accidentally dropped off to a desert from the west. He was actually looking for some adventures of his life, to give some “definition” of who he really is.

While finding his way to where he wants, he came across to a small village who was having a water crisis. Unknown to them, it was being controlled of the Mayor, to sustain its projects for his own benefit.

Rango tried to “blend in” with the natives of the town by lying to them about his true identity. But then, he recovered and proved to the citizens of the village his worth as their Sherif by solving their water problems, and exposing the Mayor’s illegal acts.

You will laugh along with this movie, and will give a moral lesson fit for everyone about who you really are, and who you really can be.

Nice one, i give 4 STARS for this Western Comedy Cartoon movie!

THE EAGLE, a review

The Eagle is a historical epic movie that was adapted from the adventure historical novel “The Eagle of The Ninth”.

This is a story about a young Roman officer who’s in search for the lost of his father’s legion in the Northern part of Britain. According to the people from the kingdom, the lost of his father was because of his cowardice towards the enemies that made them preferred to hide instead of fighting.

Marcus Aquila wants to know the truth and bring back the honor of his father. He searched for the “golden eagle” which was the symbol of his father’s legion. Marcus was joined by Esca, who was their colony’s slave where he tried to save from their gladiator. By thanking him, Esca, pledged to be Marcus’s slave and even tested his loyalty even if he’s not Roman.

The actions and adventures of Marcus and Esca was full of miseries, but it was all worth it when Marcus have gained his father’s honor.

I give 4 STARS for this action adventure film..

RED RIDING HOOD, a review

As always, i usually blog about movies but unfortunately, this is a late review again.. Laziness keeps on running into my bones.. But nonetheless, i would definitely love to share a review of this movie.

Red Ridinghood is basically based on the children’s folktale, The Little Red Riding Hood. Who does’nt know that story?

Anyway, this movie has an adult approach on how is Valerie, The Red Riding Hood related to the “wolf”. The movie has a lot of twists and turns where until the end you will keep on guessing who’s the “wolf” that attacks the village and who’d also want Valerie to be with him.

It’s entertaining, but i think it lacks more “drama”..

So, i give 3.5 STARS for this movie..

UNSTOPPABLE, a review

This is  a long overdue movie review, but anyway i’ll still blog this thing out.

Unstoppable is an action-thriller movie, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.. This story tells about the runaway train, which coincidentally tried to stopped by the two locomotive personnels, Frank (played by Washington), a veteran locomotive engineer and Will (played by Pine), a young train conductor.

The runaway train is not just an ordinary passenger train, but a cargo train that carries tons of fuel and other hazardous chemicals which will cause a great damage in the city as it takes a turn on a huge fuel tanks. Frank and Will happens to be on the same railway that made them to decide to help out in stopping the “unstoppable train”.

The climax of the story was the whole action adventure that these people have gone through and how they risked their lives for the welfare and safety of the people that will be affected by a destructible explosion that it may create.

It was a fair movie, but not as exciting as what i expected.

The Social Network, a review

Facebook movie, that’s what most people call it. It’s all about Mark Zuckerbeg, Founder and CEO of Facebook who created the biggest social networking site of this genre, and also changed the style and ways of “online friendship”.

On the first phase of the story, i find it a little bit boring to watch, but because it’s a biography, what do we expect, right? The story talks about who was Mark before he invented Facebook. All his frustrations in his relationships made him create “facemash” which was the origin of Facebook. He was just a genius and clever that he didnt realize, he’s making a few enemies along the way. I wont spoil the whole story, but if you already read about his life story, you wont be interested watching this movie, anyway.

There’s just some humors that made the other scenes quite funny to watch. If you’re a Facebook fan, you might try to watch Mark Zuckerberg’s biography. Being a geek can make you a real billionaire, but it’s definitely inevitable to make some enemies along the way.

RED, a movie review

This is a late review of the movie, RED.. I watched it last weekend, but had time to review it just now. RED is an hollywood action movie, starring Bruce Willis who plays the role of Frank Moses, a retired CIA hitman during his younger days who later learned about the plans of the CIA to put him down, along with the people on the lists that they discovered.

Sarah Ross ( Marie-Louise Parker ) was a Pensioner Clerk, who became a “phone pal” of Frank because he always asks for his pension updates and eventually got to like her. Unknown to them, they are already under surveillance of the CIA which they became the main target. Frank then, asks for the help of his fellow CIA retirees friends which were, the good-natured, happy-to-lucky Joe (Morgan Freeman), the paranoid Marvin (John Malkovich), and the classy British dame Victoria (Helen Mirren) that are more than happy to lend a hand. and so the action-adventure begins..

It was a fun and exciting action movie, where the “oldies” proved that they are still “goodies” on their “dirty” work kicking butts! RED means, R-etired E-xtremely D-angerous!

You will laugh often while watching it, because of the humor which everybody brought in their new CIA assignment as they seek for the truth on who are the real people behind the lists to exterminate and why.. See for yourself and enjoy! ;)

KNIGHT AND DAY, a review

Saturdays is my favorite day of the week!!! We get to watch movies everytime.. It was not even planned yesterday, coz we don’t know what movie to watch for, or will it pass our taste.
We checked on it, and glad that the movie “Knight and Day” is already showing. Timely, the movie is about to start in a few minutes when we arrived at the cinema.
Knight and Day is a story about a secret agent, Roy Miller who suspected to be dealing with the “bad guys” in selling a breakthrough small battery that can power up even a big city on it’s own capacity alone. The battery was invented by Sam, a weird nerdie special kid that is being protected by Roy.
June, played by Cameron Diaz, was used intentionally by Roy to transfer the small battery through her luggage without noticing it. Then their adventure started as their plane took off..
A cute love story went on, with the realization on what’s behind all the mysteries of Roy’s life as a secret agent and the things he sacrificed just to be the best asset in his profession..
A fun, romantic, cute, and action adventure movie to watch! Nice one, Tom Cruise!!! ;)

KARATE KID, a review

When we tried to watch A-Team last week at Festival Mall in Alabang, a long queue for KARATE KID was overwhelming.. There were so many movie goers especially a bunch of kids along with their families.

Last weekend, we were able to watch this Kung Fu movie of the great Jackie Chan, and the cute lil boy, Jaden Smith who is the son of the very proud dad, Will Smith! Who also, happens to be one of the producers of the movie.. Great break they did for their son, which his mother Jada Smith was also a part producer.. :)

This is a story about a young boy, who grew up without a dad due to a demise. But his loveable and caring mom was still able to make it on their own.. Moving to China, where most of the kids knows how to “Kung Fu”, made “DREW”, Jayden’s name on the movie, fearful of the “karate kids” that always try to bully him.

With the help of his mentor, Jackie Chan, who played the role of Mr. Han, made it possible to conquer his fear. With determination and discipline that Mr. Han has taught him, Drew made it to win as the Champion, that made him, THE KARATE KID!

With a great sense of humor all throughout the movie, anyone will really enjoy watching this with your family and loved ones! An inspiring movie for the kiddos! Thumb’s up for Jaden Smith!

A-TEAM, a review

This movie just opened this weekend, and this is one of the films that we”ve been waiting for.. This is based on the television series, of the same name.

This is about the 4 rangers, who had their mischievous acts then, but remained an honest men from the armed forces of the US. They’re work has been compromised by the CIA, who has an “underground” illegal activities in producing fake US dollar bills. They were betrayed by they’re commader-in-chief, who is , unknown to them, been working with the illegal works of the CIA.

The Alpha Team, also know as A-TEAM, used their character being clever to prove to all that they are innocent from all those crimes, being charged to them by the government.

This is an action-packed movie, with a taste af humor and brains.. A very clever film, and entertaining!

Go ahead and watch, still showing!!!

PRINCE OF PERSIA, a review

This is a long overdue review on this movie, for it’s been running in the cinemas for 2 weeks already.. Anyway, for those who have’nt watched the Prince of Persia, here’s my quick review..

Just like the ancient kingdom stories, it’s always about greed of power.. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the first installment of the trilogy of The Sands of Time.. This movie has a lot of drama and intrigue about the mystery of who is behind the assasination of the King of Persia. And also, the power of the sand to turn back time, that became the reason why the throne of the King was compromised.

In this movie, it has been proven that even brothers were not related by blood, they can make a great relationship as strong as real brothers.

This is like an ancient version of time machine.. the sands of time..

Watch it, it’s still showing.. Great story, with moral lessons that will touch your heart..

ROBINHOOD, a review

We were lucky to have a free movie passes from my husband’s company, as their employee treats to their employees. The movie screening was held at the Alabang Town Center Cinema before the mall opens to the public. The movies to choose from were Shrek 4 and Robinhood.. so we opted to choose the war movie Robinhood, because we both enjoy watching movies of those kind. It has a free snack, hotdog sandwich and tacos and plus a coke drink.. The movie was just about to start when we came..

Let’s go back to the main story of the movie.. This movie is based on the legend of Robin Hood which came into a movie version, directed by Ridley Scott, and starred by Russel Crowe from the movie “Gladiator” who played the role of Robin Longstride. Well, just like the other “ancient” war movies nowadays, Robinhood has a wonderful cinematography, and the costumes of the characters are just awesome..

The story is all about power grabbing, betrayal and greed during the 12th century, as almost all of the kingdoms in England are being compromised by the French invasion plans.. Robin, was just a common archer who has a heart to protect and to keep the harmonious relationships of all the Kingdoms in England. But due to greed of power and betrayal, England was compromised.

Everyone should watch it.. a great legend! :)

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, a review

Yesterday was the pilot opening date of the movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street. It is the remake of its original film back in 1984, which really made a box office hit during those times. The movie made a significant impact on the horror genre, spawning a line of sequels, television series, remake, and various works of imitations. And finally, a 2010 remake was made.

A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.

Because it’s a remake, the story is just the same. We were actually eager to watch it, because we’re basically a fan. I was expecting so much from the movie, that would really frightens me, or even scares me a lot. It was a very long time, since i have watch a horror movie. And as far as i know, this is the first ever horror movie that i’ve watched on the big screen.

In totality, the story was well presented. But when it comes to the “slashing” scenes, it was quite dumb to see, maybe because of the horror movies that we see nowadays with a very graphic cinematography that is more bloody and merciless. I find the movie as a light horror film, which everyone can withstand the “suppose to be” “scary and frightening” scenes. I was expecting for a heart-pounding and breath-taking slashing scenes every time Freddy kills, but i think the scenes were just so light to watch.

I think it is’nt enough for a horror movie. It could be categorize as, and more of a “suspense thriller” movie than a horror one. Not a good comeback for Freddy Krueger, i think his terror is done.

IRON MAN 2, a review

a day after its opening date, i came to the cinema, i saw the movie iron man 2, and i conquered the whole story! hmm.. i was able to incorporate my website’s tag line with the experience i had in watching the sequel of the famous cartoon super hero IRON MAN!

if i remember, i was still pregnant with my youngest child when i saw the first movie of IRON MAN. it was really my most  favorite “superhero movie”. And that was the first time, i got to LIKE Robert Downey Jr. and eventually became my crush.. :)

to get back with the story, IRON MAN 2 made a BIG and AWESOME sequel of its initial release back in 2008. to be fair, the first was as good as the second one, but they have an equal “difference” when it comes to “action” and “presentation”.

this is the continuation of Tony Stark’s story six months after he admitted to be the IRON MAN. there were a lot of twists and secret’s unveiling through the life of Tony Stark, as he came across the unlocking of his father’s inventions and knowledge which was unknown to him.

he was also fighting for his arc reactor “dilemma” that continuously poisoning his body that makes him weaker as the day passes. i would not spoil some of the movie’s “highlights” which you must go out and watch it.

the humor, naughtiness, action, high-tech visual effects are far largely presented in this movie that makes it an AWESOME comeback!

everyone would really enjoy this movie, and will be amazed by the “sexiness” of Scarlett Johansson who played the role as an undercover spy for Tony Stark by being his new assistant.

COME ON, GO OUT AND WATCH IT! :)

WORKING GIRLS 2010, a review

last weekend, we were trying to look for a hollywood movie to watch, but we end up watching WORKING GIRLS 2010 instead. ( actually, my hubby was the one who told me to let us try to watch that movie.  ) as i have always said, im not a fan of tagalog movies, but at least it’s a comedy film, and i have seen its funny trailer so why not?  :)

this movie was a remake of its original version WORKING GIRLS in the year 1984, by an award-winning director Ishmael Bernal. The three original stars were also here in the 2010 movie version.. they are Carmi Martin, Maria Isabel Lopez. and Gina Pareno that also added an excitement to the movie.

lahat ng eksena ni Eugene Domingo, nakakatawa. i really like her a lot, as a comedienne. napaka natural nya! sya yung nagdala ng buong movie para maging nakakaaliw at nakakatawa..

may isang part dun na naiyak ako.. hehe.. so, figure out nyo nalang kung alin dun.. basta naiyak ako.

in totality, it’s a fun movie worth watching.. and  congratulations to all the cast of WORKING GIRLS 2010!

SHUTTER ISLAND, a review

i came to see SHUTTER ISLAND just last week, and the experience was awesomely insane!

Shutter Island is a best-selling novel by Dennis Lehane which was released last april 2003, and now created a film adaptation which was directed by Martin Scorsese, starred by Leonardo DiCaprio who portrayed the role of Teddy Daniels, as the main character of the story.

this is a psychological mystery-thriller film that will crush every threads of your brain.. when we were watching it, silence is everywhere even if the movie house is full of audiences. everyone is watching quietly to see every inch of the phasing of the story, as it will really confuse the audience at first.

but as the story goes, a lot of questions and mysteries would be solved, and in the end, we will realize the importance of sanity. and sometimes, sanity is either subjective or objective at some points in some cases.

it’s a beautiful story, with a great lesson.. a brilliant movie!

CLASH OF THE TITANS, a review

i have watched this movie about two weeks ago, and it’s just now that i have find time to create a review post.

well, this movie reminds me of the fun fantasy movie of Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. There are a lot of similarities primarily because both movies was all about Gods and Goddesses.

Clash of The Titans 2010 is a remake of the 1981 film with the same title name, given with all the credits. It was later converted to a 3D film, which gives more excitement to the viewers.

the movie was all about the three Olympians who battled with the Titans long ago: ZEUS, POSEIDON and HADES.

Hades provides their means of defeating the Titans with his creation, KRAKEN. After the Titans’ defeat, Zeus created humans and ruled them while Poseidon ruled the sea, but Hades, having been deceived by his brother Zeus was forced to rule the UNDERWORLD, and learns an alternative means of gaining power from humans different from his brothers receiving theirs from human devotion: FEAR!

And so the battling continues as PERSEUS, a demi-God, son of ZEUS became the key in keeping the world peaceful.

It’s an action packed fantasy movie, every myth-lover would love and appreciate!

VALENTINE’S DAY, a movie review

well, well.. im not really a fan of light, fun-happy movies because i think those are shallow.. but anyway, i’ve watched it, of course, i would’nt be writing a review if it was’nt so..

so, actually, we were suppose to watch “dear john” a heavy drama love story, just for the sake of feeling soooo inlove on the valentine’s day.. but we ended up watching the movie.. Valentine’s day! it’s an all-star cast, and it’s valentines day, so why not watch it?

to summarize, the whole story went around the interconnected worlds of the whole characters of the story on how they went through during the valentine’s day! there were pieces of love stories, intertwined together, to discover how LOVE works on the most celebrated day for the lovers! the VDAY!

stories were very touching, emotional, relevant, and it happens! so, anyone could relate to the love story of the couples in the movie.. you will realize the true meaning of love, and when to push or to pull a relationship whenever troubles and problems occur.. you know, the love tests and all that stuff that will make your principles in love gets complicated. but in the end, what matters most, is the genuine love that you feel for that person, and acceptance of everything about him/her regardless of its values.

love is not perfect, it only happens when you learn to accept everything about the person you really love, whether its good or bad. it will be PERFECT!

show more love! happy valentine’s day everyday! =) *kisses* and *hugs* to all!

PERCY JACKSON and the LIGHTNING THIEF

ok.. percy jackson and the lightning thief is like a kiddie movie, but fair enough to entertain the adults.. it’s informative for the students with regards to history and literature.. the gods and the goddesses!

well, percy jackson is the son of poseidon, which is the god of the sea, and kiddos of his kind is being called as demigods. the story is all about the life’s struggle of the demigods and being that kind was not easy. specially they have’nt seen or met their god or goddess parents, because it is forbidden. the reason,  beacause poseidon was nearly wanting to be a mortal ( a human) because of his son, percy jackson while staying with his family for seven months. poseidon was then forced by zeus, his brother to leave his family behind.

there was a big twist in the story, who is the lightning thief? because percy jackson was suspected by the gods especially heraeus, his uncle, the god of fire. and so the adventure goes..

i find logan lerman, the star of percy jackson soooo cute! i have a crush on him actually.. =) *giggle*

watch it, lots of humor, and love.. =)

LEGION MOVIE, a review

Legion is an apocalyptic-thriller film, directed by Scott Stewart. the primary casts are  Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Adrianne Palicki and Dennis Quaid.

the story is all about the other way of doomsday.. on how God will exterminate mankind, as He loses faith to humanity because of the evil doings of the living people. in this film, it conceptualizes a different apocalypse in which God uses His archangels to possess each and every human to become a zombie-like creature to kill each other as a way of exterminating the world’s population, as the last judgement.

there is only one archangel who believes that there is still hope in the human race.. a hope for change to become good. and that is archangel Michael. He went down to prove to God that people can change, by protecting the unborn child of charlie, a young waitress in a New Mexico diner, who then, doesnt want her baby.

the baby that she’s about to give birth to is a sign of hope for humanity. it’s an action drama, that will make us realize our wrong doings in this planet, that there is still time for repentance.

watch the movie, and meet the archangels of God.. =)

a very touching movie.. two thumbs up! 5 stars!

SHERLOCK HOLMES, a review

(photo taken by me, at cinema 8 of Festival Supermall in Alabang)

last sunday, i was able to watch SHERLOCK HOLMES with my hubby as a part of our whole day celebration of my 27th birthday.. it’s a worth it movie!

i have never seen Robert Downy Jr, acted so funny yet clever in his role as Sherlock Holmes. and i dont think that any other actor could do that. together with a great actor Jude Law,  their combination is a bomb!

Guy Ritchie as their director has done an excellent job in bringing out the best acting from the characters of the story..

it’s a fun-filled clever movie, that audiences wont forget Sherlock Holmes!

it’s four stars.
